Svapna means the state of dreaming sleep, in which man enjoys the five objects of senses and in which all the physical senses are at rest and only the mind is active. The mind is itself the subject and object. It creates all dream images.
Al Jiva (individual soul) is called Taijasa when in this state. It exists Antah-Prajna (internal consciousness). The scriptures say: "No cars when one sleeps, no horses, no roads, but it creates a cars, horses and roads. "
The dream world is separate from the world of the waking state. The person who is sleeping on a comfortable bed in Calcutta, completely healthy at the time of going to bed, wanders in a dream through the streets of Delhi like a sick man and vice versa.
The deep sleep state is separated from the other two worlds of dreams and the waking state. For the dreamer, the dream world and its objects are as real as the objects and experiences you have in the real world.
A person dreaming is not aware of the lack of reality of the world dreams, are not aware of the existence of the world is waking to sleep separately. The level of consciousness change and this change of consciousness produces the experience of dreaming, or else awake. The objects themselves do not change, only change within the mind is the mind itself which represents different roles during sleep and wakefulness.
The dreamer feels that dreams are real while they last, however incoherent or absurd they may be, until sometimes dream that you have cut your head or you're flying through the air.
The dreamer believes in the reality of the dream, and in the different experiences you have during that state. Only when he wakes up from sleep, know or realize what he had experienced was a fake, a mere dream or illusion. The case of the Jiva in the waking world is analogous to the previous. The ignorant Jiva imagines that the phenomenal world (waking), with its sensual pleasures is real. But when you wake up to the true reality of things, when you change your point of view, when the screen of Avidya (ignorance) is removed, then realizes that this waking world also is unreal like the dream world .
During sleep a poor person becomes a powerful and wealthy, enjoy all kinds of pleasures, marries a Maharani, lives in a magnificent palace and has several children. House to his eldest daughter to the son of a Maha-Raja, travels the continent with his wife and children, then come back and visit various places of pilgrimage and finally dies of pneumonia at Benares. In just five minutes, has all these experiences. What a wonder!
As during sleep, wakefulness also objects seen are unsubstantial, though the two states differ because the first objects are internal and subtle, while the second is external, gross and durable .

The sage considers the state of wakefulness and sleep are the one, as a result of the similarity of objective experience obtained in both cases. Just as the sages say that dreams and illusions are sand castles, the Vedanta declares that this universe is too.
Dreams represent the contraries. A king who has food in abundance, dreams he is on the streets begging for food. A disciple chaste and pure dreams that he is suffering from a venereal disease. A chivalrous soldier dreams that runs away from the battlefield for fear of the enemy. A weak and sickly man dreams that he is dead. He also dreams that his father, who is Live, dead and cries at night. He also experiences attending the cremation of his father. In other cases, a man who lives in the city dreams that he meets a tiger and a lion and shrieks in the night deposit. Grab your pillow thinking it's his trunk of luggage and heads to the train station. After walking a short distance realizes it was a dream and goes home. Some people dream they are sitting on the toilet and actually wet their beds.
As soon as you wake up, the dream becomes unreal. Wakefulness to sleep there. And both wakefulness and sleep, no are present in deep sleep. The deep sleep state is not present or in sleep or wakefulness. Therefore, the three states are unreal and are caused by the three constituent qualities of nature: Sattva, Rajas and Tamas.
Brahman or the Absolute is the silent witness of the three states. Brahman also transcends the three qualities listed above, your essential nature is pure bliss and pure consciousness is Existence Absolute.
